For those in the Dallas area, the Jewish Federation of Dallas will be hosting a series of lectures on Saturday November 5th through Sunday November 6th as part of its Learning Fest.
Two lectures are focused on Sephardic subjects.
The first is titled The Songs of Spain: Jewish Poetry in the Spanish Golden Age and will be taught by Rabbi Mordechai Becher, Senior Lecturer at the Gateways Organization. This lecture will be held Saturday November 5, 2016 4:30pm – 5:30pm at Sephardic Torah Center 6715 Levelland Rd, Dallas, TX 75252.
A second lecture is titled Luis Carvajal El Mozo, Tzaddik of the Southwest and will be taught by local Reid Heller, attorney and Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas. Mr. Heller has spoken at the Society of Crypto Judaic Studies and one of his articles titled Song From a Withered Limb: Las Posadas and the Converso Crisis of the 16th Century was recently published on this site and our sister site CryptoJudaism.com. This lecture will be held at Sunday November 6, 2016 3:15pm – 4:15pm at the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center 7900 Northaven Rd, Dallas, TX 75230.
