Jewish Prayer-Tehillat Adonai-תְּהִלַּת יְהוָה,

The Shacharit service (morning service) in the Spanish-Portuguese tradition begins with the last line of the Ashrei, Psalm 145.

The English reads, “My mouth shall speak the praise of the L-RD; and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.”

The Hebrew reads,

תְּהִלַּת יְהוָה, יְדַבֶּר-פִּי: וִיבָרֵךְ כָּל-בָּשָׂר, שֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ–לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד.

There are two slightly different versions of the tune. This recording contains one of them. From this point the service continues with the Tehilot Hashachar (morning blessings).

The Spanish-Portuguese tradition reflects the tradition of communities formed overwhelmingly by former Conversos.
